Who We Are

Michele Spilker, Lesley McKeone, and Leigh Ann Nelson each bring over 20 years of experience in public accounting. After years of individual extensive training at larger CPA firms, we decided to join forces and work directly with individuals and small-to-medium sized companies with the goal of helping clients to not only grow and prosper, but to thrive successfully. It is our top priority to offer the most comprehensive and exceptional accounting services to the clientele of Lee’s Summit, the greater Kansas City area, and beyond.

At Spilker McKeone & Nelson PC, we are proud to boast of a high employee retention rate. This has been integral to our success in financial services. Working as a team, it is our commitment to work synergistically with our clients. To do this, we stay up to date with all accounting and tax changes. All this, along with specializing in a variety of accounting services, gives us the edge to provide the most comprehensive services to fulfill all our clients’ needs. In addition, we utilize the most up to date technology which enables us to expand our services to clients in cities and states beyond our local community.

We participate in the AICPA Peer Review program. Our engagements are reviewed by another CPA firm every three years in accordance with the Standards for Performing and Reporting on Peer Reviews issued by the AICPA. We have received a Pass rating, the highest available, for the years 1999 through 2020.

Michele Spilker, CPA

Michele is the founding partner of Spilker McKeone & Nelson PC. For the past twenty years, Michele has been actively involved in the Lee's Summit community. She believes that in order to have a successful business the support of the community is essential. As a partner with Spilker McKeone & Nelson PC, she specializes in accounting services, tax services and business consulting in the retail, rental, construction, and non-profit sectors as well as individuals and trusts.

Lesley has been in public accounting for over 25 years. As a partner with Spilker McKoene & Nelson PC, she specializes in accounting services, tax services and business consulting in the restaurant, retail, rental, service, and non-profit sectors as well as individuals.

Leigh Ann Nelson, CPA

Leigh Ann has been in public accounting for over 25 years. She began her career with Rubin Brown in St. Louis for 5 years where she was an audit manager specializing in non-profit organizations and publicly traded entities. As a partner with Spilker McKeone & Nelson PC, she specializes in accounting services, tax services and business consulting in the retail, service, construction, and non-profit sectors as well as individuals.
